Quinton products are manufactured in Spain by Laboratoires Quinton to meticulous standards.  From the collection and storage of the raw Quinton Marine Plasma to the final products, every stage is carefully controlled and monitored.  Cold micro-filtration ensures a pharmaceutical grade standard is maintained throughout without losing any valuable biological activity that heating or irradiating would destroy.  Batch samples are checked for microbiology and toxicology with samples stored in case future checks are ever required.

Although the sea is famously polluted close to the shore from dumping of waste from the land and from ships approaching ports etc, the sea is a self-cleaning entity in itself largely due to the action of micro-organisms that digest and metabolise our waste into harmless by-products.

There is natural public concern about ocean pollution and contaminants.  Sensationalistic journalism has led to many misconceptions due to sea pollution being one of the most dramatically reported environmental topics of the past 50 years. 

Many people will be surprised to learn that the open ocean (especially the Atlantic where raw Quinton Marine Plasma is harvested) is one of the more contaminant-free environments on the planet.  According to detailed laboratory analysis, open ocean seawater compares exceedingly well to the levels of pollutants we are exposed to on land on a daily basis.  The water we drink, the food we eat (and the soil it grows in), the air we breathe and virtually everything we contact (including clothing) exposes us to thousands of times more contamination than pristine seawater harvested from the open ocean.

The only reason scientists associate contaminants with the ocean is the fact that the seafood we consume is high up the food chain which means that it concentrates contaminants from lower down the food chain to levels where they can become significant.  eg it requires over a tonne of microscopic sea organisms in the dietary food chain to make just 1Kg of tuna fish.  When an insignificant level of contaminant such as mercury in microscopic organisms is concentrated thousands of times by higher food chain organisms it can impact human health when the higher seafood organism is consumed regularly.  On the other hand, open ocean seawater is at the very bottom of the food chain and has a far lower level of contaminants than even the single-celled plankton and algae that grow in it.

With the recent Fu'kishima nuclear accident radiation contamination by radionuclides has hit the news and raised concerns.  This contamination emits various types of radiation that can gradually expose humans to health risks over long periods of time. Radionuclides are radioactive forms of the elements that exist everywhere in our environment – in the air we breathe (eg radon, which accounts for more than 50% of the radiation we are exposed to), the ground we walk on, concrete buildings, the furniture we sit on in.  Surrounded by this radiation it is therefore not surprising that it enters our body and can be found in our bones and body tissues.  Radionuclide levels in the open ocean are insignificant compared to land-based sources. The foods and drinks we consume present a far greater radiation risk than drinking Quinton supplements.  Laboratoires Quinton (a certified pharmaceutical manufacturer) uses third party laboratories to continually test its source Quinton Marine Plasma for radionuclides. Quinton Marine Plasma is naturally free of contaminants

Laboratoires Quinton harvests marine plasma from plankton blooms in the Atlantic that are even more pristine than the open ocean. These massive self-purifying zones are like huge biological factories that are capable of eliminating natural and man-made toxins using complex biological processes.  Plankton blooms are not only guardians of the ocean’s purity but they are also responsible for generating more than half the oxygen we breathe.  Quinton Marine Plasma is harvested from a depth of 100 ft inside one of these internationally protected blooms. It is immediately refrigerated to 4 degrees Celsius to preserve its “living qualities” and then pharmaceutically cold-microfiltered before it is sealed in its special glass vial to assure it organic vitality.
