Why do we need Quinton marine products?

Your body needs to work at full capacity to be fully able to resist infections and diseases, and maintain itself.  Our modern lifestyle means we frequently struggle to achieve this, especially as we get older. 

Increased food production has led to reduced food quality and nutrition

The soil in which we grow our food no longer provides all the minerals and elements essential to our nourishment and health, no matter how much we eat.  Taking daily Quinton replenishes these nutrients and minerals and helps to restore the optimum balance to maintain a healthy body and mind.

Fertilisers used in commercial farming typically quote inclusion ratios of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium (N:P:K).  Many lack the minerals and trace elements that have been leached from the soil that are perceived as not important because they naturally occur at lower levels.  The fact is that we need them all.  On the basis of our food being largely inadequate nutritionally, everybody will benefit by supplementing with Quinton in order to restore the proper mineral balance that maintains optimal health.

Research at the Coral Gables University (Miami-USA) was carried out using a molar approximation through neuron diffraction spectrometry. This is the most accurate method so far to prove that the qualitative and quantitative composition of natural Seawater contains 83 perfectly balanced and fully bio-available elements at biological temperature which makes it the ideal source for a nutritional supplement.

Why are trace elements important?

As René Quinton demonstrated in his Law of Marine Constancy, species making the transition to the land originally evolved in the sea where all 83 naturally-occurring elements have been identified. In order to maintain optimal function, the milieu intérieur should closely match the sea environment in which cell function was originally established and upon which each function of all cells relies.

Trace elements fulfil a number of major functions: they are enzyme co-factors, vitamin constituents like cobalt in vitamin B12, electron carriers such as iron that also forms the nucleus of the haemoglobin molecule (see diagram).  They are found in regulatory hormonal mechanisms (eg. iodine & thyroid hormones), and play a key role in immune mechanisms (copper, manganese, etc).

The in vivo study of trace elements is delicate: reactions involving trace elements are often reversible and require specific conditions that depend upon the pH, the oxidization state of the elements present, temperature, the presence or absence of other trace elements, the chaining of previous reactions (action synergy), substrate concentration, and the form of the elements present (coefficient of dissociation of salts, level of activation of ions, etc).  There are emerging new sciences such as nutrigenetics, nutrigenomics and metabolomics that are helping us to understand how nutrient intake affects gene expression, how genetic make-up determines how nutrients are used and studies of the presence and relative levels of metabolites as an indication of cell and organism health.   These are incredibly complex subjects with many variables.  Even with approaches such as these, a full scientific comprehension of trace elemental interaction is a long way off and is in reality virtually impossible since no element should be surveyed outside of its own its sphere of influence, yet the interactions are incredibly complex and susceptible to many micro-environmental variations commonly experienced.  An individual being analysed is likely to render slightly different results on different days according to factor variations in nutrition, temperature and even emotions.  Whilst no doubt certain general nutritional trends and health traits will emerge, it is impossible to standardise many of the factors affecting biochemistry and biophysics, which would be necessary in order to make direct comparisons and fully understand what is going on internally. 

The diagram above shows the complex network of interactions of just 16 elements, but it is possible that under certain other environmental factors some of these elemental influences might alter.  It is far easier to provide the body with the correct nutritional balance of minerals and let it find it's own equilibrium rather than try to scientifically tailor a supplement that might only be relevant under certain conditions for a short time and is likely to upset the delicate homoeostasis in other areas.

Trace elements account for approximately 3% of the electrolytes present in the internal environment where they form an extremely complex synergy.  Any synergy disturbance causes a healthy terrain to become susceptible to a particular type of pathology.  

One billionth of a gram of metal contains 2.5 billion atoms, yet it might only take one to ten atoms to be sufficient to reactivate a molecule of an enzyme that will go into constant use and contribute significantly to cellular function.  This explains why seemingly small volumes of a perfectly balanced supplement such as Quinton can have a seemingly disproportionately positive influence on health

Recent advances in medical research frequently attempt to link diseases to genetic coding.  Our understanding of genetic expression has revealed the importance of the correct ratios and presence of all necessary elements and trace elements regardless of how little is required to be present.  The composition of this internal environment is of course predominantly influenced by our diet and it's nutritional content.  This is what nutrigenetics is attempting to understand more fully

When reading the genetic map, the “zinc finger” proteins are directly related to the metal.  The metal or protein bond produces a three-dimensional formation that is strengthened by the presence of structural water.  Zinc only works in the presence of other elements, such as copper or potassium (in fact there are more than 13 elements involved in this process); their total absence or excess however inhibit the element.  The ionic equilibrium of the composition of elements must be maintained for optimal function.  Of all supplements, only Quinton Marine Plasma has the total iono-mineral homoeostasis capable of ensuring that the genes can be read, expressed and transcribed correctly.

According to developmental biologist Bruce Lipton, whilst every cell contains its own genetic DNA back-bone, it is constantly being affected by the epigenetic influences found within the extra-cellular fluid.  Studies reveal that changes in our extra-cellular fluid have the ability to direct the cell to make 2,000 or more different proteins from the same gene blueprint.  The upshot of this dynamic is that, while genetic makeup is important to the health and function of each cell, a cell’s operations are moulded more by their interaction with the environment than by its genetic code.

The oceans contain the homoeostatic blueprint of life – the original genetic code that has and is governing evolution.  World famous biologist Craig Venter, who first mapped the human genome, is now working on a new project to uncover the genetic origins of the human genome and all life on the planet to better understand how the oceans can impact our health.  To accomplish this, he is cataloguing ocean water samples every 200 miles.  His team now estimates that there may be as many as 20 billion genes within the Earth’s oceans – a rich store of genetic information that tells the story of our oceanic origins.

Through natural selection, humans inherited a mere 30,000 genes, of which as many as 18,000 have been labelled as “pseudogenes” or “junk genes”.  Until recently scientists have considered pseudogenes to be obsolete remnants of our evolutionary past.  Biologists are now realising that epigenetic information held by junk genes may “inform” the genes next to them and may fulfil a protective role by aiding our adaptation to novel internal and external environmental stresses.

Our 30,000 genes along with our internal terrain interact and respond to the billions of genes and other influences present in our environment.  By drinking Quinton with the considerable number of additional genes it inevitably contains (that are uniquely preserved by the cold-filtration process) it is possible that we are providing ourselves with a greater capacity for the most appropriate adaptive response to our fast-changing environment.

What makes Quinton products different and better than other multi-mineral products?

Although the raw Quinton Marine Plasma used to make Quinton Isotonic and Hypertonic products is collected in the ocean, it is not the same as coastal or deep sea water.


Quinton Marine Plasma is the living fluid produced within the dense vortex plankton blooms by zoo-plankton as they consume smaller phyto-plankton. These plankton blooms are so large that they are visible from space.  Quinton is therefore not just composed of trace minerals.  Unlike land-derived minerals, every major element and trace mineral is present in Quinton in organic crystalloid form due to them being pre-digested by the zooplankton and presented in the ideal synergistic ratio. 

As previously stated, the ocean is a vast resource of genes and organic compounds that are essential to life.  These include essential fatty acids, anti-oxidants and of course the epigenetic information that co-exists and is stored by these organic structures.  These are only retained and active when the raw QMP is properly collected, transported, stored and cold-filtered according to the Quinton Protocol set out by René Quinton himself, some of which remains a trade secret to this day.  Only products manufactured by Laboratoires Quinton according to these rigorously researched protocols can truly claim to be Original Quinton and retain all the healing properties discovered by René Quinton over 100 years ago.

Cheap trace mineral products mined from salt beds on land are inorganic because they have not been pre-digested by living micro-organisms.  They are considerably less available to our body after we have eaten them as a result.  In addition, the quantity of each trace mineral varies from salt bed sample to sample and does not mirror the ratios found in the human body that we ideally require. Inorganic minerals are not available at a cellular level and must be transformed into their crystalloid state in order to pass through the cell membrane for cellular activities.  Crystalloid minerals as found in Quinton products are bio-available at the epigenetic level both outside and inside the cell – interacting with the cell membrane to direct genetic potential.

The “living” properties found in Quinton products are not present in land-derived trace element products even from ancient sea beds and cannot be revived by rehydrating these samples.  Other ocean-derived products are desiccated, heated or irradiated in order to produce a cheap imitation product.  With such processing, these “living” properties are lost for ever and other organic compounds such as nucleic acids, anti-oxidants and Essential Fatty Acids are irreparably denatured with no residual meaningful biological function.

Why do we need to continually replace trace elements?

Trace elements are lost through stress of any kind (physical or emotional) and through natural body waste including sweat, breathing, urination etc.  Corruption of the internal body environment through diet, alcohol consumption, dehydration, alteration of pH, unbalancing of minerals, pollutants, radiations, emotional stress etc can alter the delicate homoeostasis of the internal environment and render physically present trace elements physiologically inactive.  Our modern environment and hectic lifestyles create a constant stress on our physical and physiological existence.  Targeted nutrients cannot fulfil their intended function in the midst of a depleted biological terrain.  Supplementation with unbalanced elements through foods and cheap supplements creates additional subtle mineral imbalances.  Such depletion of our physiological function can results in sub-optimal expression of genes which ultimately leads to disease.  As René Quinton himself wrote “To maintain a healthy body, homoeostasis must be kept constant.  A healthy organic terrain is the basis of health and conversely diseases develop on a depleted or congested terrain.  Upstream of most diseases there is an unbalanced terrain.” 

It is only through correction on a continual basis using Quinton that the internal environment will be restored with over-activity calmed and under-activity boosted. For this reason, it is recommended to take Quinton daily for at least 3 months in order to achieve a more stable body homoeostasis.  Once achieved, regular Quinton will maintain homoeostasis and optimal gene and body function.  More serious imbalances can take longer to achieve correction.
